Tribute to a Great Lady

My family has not rubbed shoulders with the wealthy Rockafellers or shaken hands with the beloved and famous Ronald Reagans. Shelley Fabares has been a star for as long as I can remember. Yet, our paths crossed along the way and we found ourselves, not by choice, traveling down the same unmarked road. We were but a few of a throng of thousands, entrusted with the care of a loved one stricken with Alzheimer's disease.

It is a road where class distinctions become unimportant. Easing the torment of our loved one, while attempting to keep our own lives intact becomes our mutual goal. Whether just embarking or survivors of this experience, we all come to see that Alzheimer's disease is no respector of persons.

The following pages briefly summarize our family's seven year journey caring for my husband's grandmother stricken with Alzheimer's. I am happy to say that the story in it's entirety was recently published by Tyndale House Publishers, given the name One Family's Journey through Alzheimer's.

Along the way there were some very disturbing incidents, marking the onset of Alzheimer's disease, and the beginning of each new stage. I will refer to them as...
